Flu vaccinations at UFS Medical
Being vaccinated with the current year’s flu vaccine is your best protection from influenza. As the flu can make you seriously unwell, we’re encouraging anyone over the age of six months to be vaccinated every year.
Getting your flu shot at UFS Medical
Flu vaccinations for adults and children over 6 months old are available in regular GP consultations at all UFS Medical centres.
If you’ve recently had COVID, you can still safely receive the flu vaccination, as long as you no longer have symptoms.
If you have not had COVID or a COVID booster recently, ask your GP about your eligibility. It is safe for most patients to have a COVID booster at the same time as your flu vaccine.
Appointment costs
When you attend one of our bulk-billing medical centres (Doveton St, Windermere St, Lucas) for your flu vaccination appointment, you will not be charged a consultation fee. If you are eligible for a NIP flu vaccine, you will have no out-of-pocket cost. If you are not eligible for a NIP flu vaccine, you will be charged for the cost of the vaccine only (refer below).
If you attend Sebastopol UFS Medical for your flu vaccination appointment, your GP may choose to bulk-bill or charge a fee for your consultation. Please discuss this with our reception team when booking your appointment. Consultation fees are available here.
Types of flu vaccines and prices
- The cost of the standard flu vaccine is $24.99 for UFS Membersor $31.24 for non-members.
- The cost of the cell-based flu vaccine is $34.99 for UFS Membersor$43.74 for non-members.
- The new nasal spray flu vaccine for children aged 2-17 years can be administered by your GP at UFS Medical but you must obtain a prescription for the vaccine, obtain it from your pharmacy and bring it to your GP appointment.
- For patients eligible for the National Immunisation Program (NIP) flu vaccine, there is no charge for the supply of the standard flu vaccine.
